Currency Restrictions

Please click Taipei Customs Office for detailed regulations on the amounts of foreign currency, New Taiwan Dollars, Renminbi, and gold that each passenger may take out of Taiwan.

Category Information
Gold Outbound passengers are allowed to carry a maximum of NT$100,000 in cash. The amount in excess of NT$100,000 must be declared to the Customs. However, the exceeding amount is not allowed to be brought in or out of Taiwan even with a filed declaration. Non-declaration will result in confiscation of the exceeding amount; false-declaration will result in confiscation of the exceeding amount of the amount declared.
Foreign currency Amounts exceeding US$10,000, or the equivalent in other currencies, must be declared and registered with Customs.
Negotiable securities Negotiable securities with a face value equivalent to US$10,000 or more must be declared to Customs.
NTD Maximum NT$100,000.
RMB Limit of RMB$20,000.
Foreign Exchange Settlement US$5 million a year and not more than US$1 million each time.

Category Information
Items not on the List of Commodities Subject to Import and Export Restrictions Value not exceeding US$20,000
Items to a value exceeding the above allowance, and items on the List of Commodities Subject to Import and Export Restrictions An export license must be presented.
