U.S. Visa Waiver Program （VWP）

1. Taiwan passport holders planning to travel to the USA should verify that their passport is an electronic passport containing a digital chip. Older format passports are not eligible for the Visa Waiver Program. If your journey is not for the purpose of business or tourism, please apply in good time to the American Institute in Taiwan for a visa of the appropriate type.
2. To be eligible to enter the USA under the Visa Waiver Program (from November 1, 2012), a Taiwan passport holder must meet all of the following conditions:
   • You are a Taiwan national with a Personal Identification Number (National ID No.).
   • You hold a valid new-style biometric passport with digital chip.
   • The purpose of your visit to the USA is tourism or business.
   • The length of your stay in the USA will not exceed 90 days.
   • Before traveling to the USA, you have obtained an authorization to travel though the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
